Welcome to the Milwaukee Chapter of Women in the Wind!

Remember our Troops -- Pray for their safe and swift return!

Important News to report regarding our annual Poker Run:
Due to the state of the economy, and everyone's struggles as we deal with the daily effects on our jobs, finances, well-being, etc., the
WITW Milwaukee Area Chapter has decided not to host our WITW Poker Run in 2009.
We apologize if this news upsets you, but we want our legacy to be successful events that help the community!  We will revisit this decision next year!
As said earlier, the challenges of 2009 will make us stronger!

Are you looking for a fun group of lady motorcyclists to go riding with?

Greetings from the Website Chick!

It's now the beginning of March, and finally the temperatures for the last two days have been more normal for March.  Up until then, we have been experiencing temps like we had in January.  And earlier this week, the south side of Milwaukee had "lake effect" snow -- dumping over a foot of snow by the airport.  Can't believe, for once, that living 40 miles north of Milwaukee would spare me from that white stuff.  However, the roads out by me are still VERY sand covered so the thought of trying to go for a quick putt will probably have to wait until we have some good road-drenching downpours.  Since I've been stuck indoors, I've been scrambling to get the inside projects done around the house -- painting, hanging pictures, and still unpacking more "heirlooms" from our move over 2 years ago.  The house is really starting to look like a home -- and the computer room is a place where every "gearhead" would want to hang out.  Some cool prints and diecast items in there.

With the weather starting to change, I am ready.  My bike has fresh fork oil and a new clutch, and the ol' girl is (my bike, that is) getting quite anxious to exit the garage and pound the pavement.  So, although I still have a few projects to finish around the house, I'm watching the weather forecasts and looking forward to the first ride of the 2009 season.  Hope you are too.  If you're not, better get you and your bike ready to do so . . . don't miss out on the opportunities to make memories!

Our Monthly Meetings:

Our meeting have moved again . . . this time back to an old favorite spot . . .
As of February 2008, the monthly meetings will be held the first Wednesday of each month at:  Johnny V's Classic Cafe, 1650 South 84th Street, West Allis.  We will meet in their back/side party room.  Meetings start at 6:30 p.m.

Our Regular Group Rides:
We have an evening group ride on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from April to the end of October.  We have moved back to our former meeting spot, as this place is the most convenient and allows us to head out of the city much easier.  Weds. Night Ladies Rides -- Our meeting spot has been changed back to a former place:  Watertown Plank Road Park 'n Ride NORTH Lot (just west of Hwy. 45). When exiting from Hwy. 45 (Exit #40), this will be the lot on the right (north) side of Watertown Plank Road. (We will be meeting in the North lot as it's safer than trying to cross the multiple lanes of traffic.) Please park in the area of the lot closest to Watertown Plank Road.  We have a pre-ride meeting at 6:15 p.m. to go over the route and our group riding hand signals and techniques.  This will also be when your motorcycle license endorsement and insurance coverage are verified so please bring both along with you to the rides.  Arrive with a full tank of gas and ready to hit the road.  Plan to leave at 6:30 p.m.  Our destination usually includes a stop for a bite to eat and/or ice cream.  Our Wednesday Night Rides are have ended until April . . . e-mail if you need more information when they start again . . .

Very Important Note:  WITW is open to ALL brands of motorcycles.

During the winter downtime, we will be having a once-a-month WITW dinner gathering.  This will be the third Wednesday of the month (from November through March).  We pick a destination, and meet directly at the restaurant we've chosen for eats and conversation.  If we can't ride, at least we can mingle with the group and share our riding stories.  So either check out the Calendar of Events or e-mail the site for the destination of our dinner gatherings.
Depending on weather and schedules, the February and March gatherings may be taking place . . . please e-mail for details.

Come check us out at a meeting or group ride / dinner gathering . . .
